Phase One: Wardrobe Assessment and Style File
We began our journey at Dee’s house, where we went through her existing wardrobe culling what I didn’t feel would ever work for her and making outfits out of what we decided to keep. I then sorted and arranged Dee’s wardrobe based on items and colours so it would be really easy for Dee to find where things were in the future.
These are some of the fabulous outfits we created with her existing wardrobe!
We culled an entire boot load full of clothes, very cathartic!
As I created outfits for Dee using her existing clothes, shoes and accessories, I did so whilst explaining the colour and balance theories behind them, repeating the messages over and over so Dee really started to understand how to do it for herself!
To complement this I also developed a style file for Dee, essentially a bible that Dee will always have now to assist her whilst dressing and shopping. This included a colour analysis on her complexion and what colours look best on her and a cheat sheet on how to wear colours that don’t really suit her. The report also included an assessment of her body shape with the corresponding clothing rules that she should try to adhere too in order to wear clothes that flatter her figure. I assessed her face shape so she can now choose glasses with ease, and developed a list of rules regarding: balancing outfits; complementary colours; mixing prints; accessories; and shoes!
The last step of this phase was to develop an agreed upon shopping list of all the items Dee was missing that were preventing her from creating a multitude of outfits, we prioritised this list based on Dee’s budget.
We arranged the date for the big shopping trip, which I will discuss in the next instalment of this blog “Phase Two: Shopping Trip and a Million Outfits”
