Where for art thou white jeans

As I was saying over on my Facebook page, I have been living in my white jeggings this Spring, they just seem to go with everything. But not all white jeans are created equal, and can be hard to wear if they are not a great cut and fabric.

These are a coated white jeggings I bought from Country Road back in March, they don’t stock them anymore, but I have scoured the internet for my top 5 white jeans/jeggings.

1 – white slouchy boyfriend jean (Country Road)

2 – White coated denim jean (Trenery)

3 – My top tip for all the shorties like me – Witchery 7/8 coated denim jean

4 – white relaxed denim jean (French Connection)

So easy……

Today on the facebook page, we were discussing everyone’s favourite and least favourite outfits of mine and why. Well ……. I think this maybe a contender for me, and it is so simple, all white with the golden sparkly pop of the scarf.

It feels casual, and yet oh so chic, very me (well how I see myself anyway). I love how the scarf drapes and falls around my neck, I also like how the blonde shoes with the black and white detail seem to bookend  with my hair,  glasses, scarf and top.

So what do you think, is this something you would wear?

Holiday……celebrate…….

We have had the most relaxing few days on the Yorke Peninsula, just what the Doctor ordered after the past few weeks!

Today we spent a leisurely day perusing the Port Broughton markets, followed by a lazy afternoon that included blue swimmer crabs, oysters and champagne under the vines! Nothing says relaxed and casual like chambray and pastels, I could have been a walking, talking advertisement for Country Road today, as jeans, shirt and slides were all CR! All that aside, I did feel very relaxed and yet at the same time chic and put together.

Summer is knocking! I lurve this weather! Chambray utility pants, white singlet, black sandals and statement necklace were the order of the day for our York Peninsula long weekend get away!

On top of the wold

I have had the best couple of days at work, and I believe you can see that happiness all over my face!

Not only did I get out of the office to places I haven’t been before (Robe and Mount Gambier) but I also was able to work on a project very different to what I usually do.

I felt anxious and nervous, yet at the same time, very excited and exhilarated, because I was pushed out of my comfort zone, and nailed it! I was also fortunate to work with someone at the top of their game who does this type of work all over the world!

I have been really uninspired at work of late, and consequently really devoted a lot of my energy into my blogging, but days like today, really reaffirm why I spent 8 years at Uni!

I managed a few hours to myself this arvo, so I checked out the Blue Lake, snagged this fab necklace from Holiday ( a lovely little homewares store in the Main Street) before finishing off the day with champagne and cake!

Will be going to bed with a smile on my face today!

One of the best yet…..

One of my best outfits yet, well in my opinion anyway lol, and not a photographer in sight. Sorry for the grainy motel selfie, but just had to share!

This outfit is all about bright, bold and contrasting shapes and colours. From the neon pink blazer, to the geometric necklace and pants, right down to my duel tone pointy toe flats!

Well must depart as co-facilitating a workshop tomorrow at 8.30am!!!!! Signing off from the Melaleuca in Robe!

A little bit vintage

I bought this dress at a Vintage party at the end of last summer, and while I have worn it this winter with a blazer, I have been eagerly awaiting the warmer weather so I can wear it without covering it all up!

Today I decided to really play on the spotty theme of the dress with a spotty scarf and bag. I think this works so well because in general the scarf appears light and the dress dark. The contrast of the two against each other is rather dynamic and the similar colours and patterns creates the link that ties the two together.

I am also really enjoying the contrast between my legs and the point of my shoes! I think I will be getting a lot if wear out of all these items this summer!

We all get it wrong sometimes

It’s hard coming up with a different outfit everyday, especially when half my wardrobe doesn’t fit.

Sometimes I just don’t nail it, case in point today. It looked fine in my wardrobe mirror, but at the end of the day when I saw the pic hubby took, I was left feeling a little underwhelmed. So I undid the shirt from around my waist and got him to take another pic. I think I still prefer it tied, it gives me a waist, what do you think?

Today’s outfit has really reinforced to me how important it is to balance your outfits. My jeans are loose and casual, as is my shirt and top. It helps that I am wearing dressier more feminine shoes and a necklace, but I think to achieve my style aesthetic I really needed to swap the chambray shirt for a more structured crop jacket or blazer or keep the shirt and swap the boyfriends for some skinny’s.

I also really want to rip into these jeans, they just make me feel a bit mumsy!

On the flip side there are some things I love about today’s outfit, orange looks fab with blue, I am rocking a bit of double denim, and I love my new point toe flats with these jeans!

How to wear leggings with pants, and look good

This week has been crazy, I have hardly seen my family, I have only managed to exercise once and to be honest I was so tired today that all I could bear to put on was a loose shirt and leggings, I’m not even wearing makeup, just gloss and mascara!

My tips for getting away with this outfit without completely looking like a slob are:

– wear a nice shoe – not thongs;
– wear a good quality thick legging, my leggings are thicker than most and shiny – don’t wear old pilled leggings that you can see your knickers through;
– wear a shirt or top that covers your bum; and finally
– wear a fabulous necklace!

Missing in Action!

I’d like to apologise for my absence recently, Guin’s Everyday Style has become more like Guin’s Every ‘Other’ Day Style! What with illness and crazy work deadlines, I have been too busy too post on here, but more importantly, my husband has had too pick up way more than his fare share of the slack!

At the moment I am waiting for a tram to take me to my friends Cancer fundraiser she has organised, after which I have to take a tram straight back to work again! Sigh….which means my poor husband is doing dinner, bath and bedtime duty all by himself again, third night in a row!

I ummed and ahhd about going tonight, but as my close friend has put in so much effort and there were only limited spaces I didn’t want to pull out, plus I have to go back into work anyway, but the consequence is pretty crappy for hubby….

So with this little moment of nothing time, I thought I would publicly apologise to Ben……

Then go on to show you how you don’t always have to have a colour in common (like I have done in the RHS pic) a print in common (LHS) can be just as effective!
